Someone I interviewed this week said they’ve lost half of their ops team this year
I’ve been interviewing a lot of advisors and client service associates lately, and one thing keeps standing out:
People hate working at PE‑backed aggregator firms.
Common themes:
- Growth and margins are the only North Star
- Integration projects never end
- Talent is stretched thin and burned out
- Clients feel the turnover, staff feels like a number
It can be highly profitable for the people at the top.
Everyone else is an afterthought.
What an opportunity for small, boutique firms! Not just in how they serve clients, but in how they build and support their teams.
This candidate was exceptionally talented, and I hope she joins our team.
So thank you to the PE‑backed and aggregator firms for burning out good people so they actively want to come build something different.
