When I Worked at PIMCO, We Made Fun of Financial Advisors

To be fair...

Some of the questions that came in from advisors were pretty funny. 😆

However, I’ve since learned that the top financial advisors are ridiculously smart. If you meet these people you’ll be blown away.

And I think the reason for the disconnect might be that most advisors serve mass affluent clients.

Accordingly, they spend most of their time on the problems those clients face.

But when you meet advisors serving entrepreneurs, private equity partners, executives, and ultra-high-net-worth families...

It's a different world.

The conversations become about things like:

• Tax-aware investing
• Estate planning
• Liquidity events
• Private markets
• Family governance
• Charitable planning
• Concentrated stock positions

I've now met dozens of advisors I'd trust with my own family's finances.

In my experience, many of them know far more about personal wealth management than those who work at investment firms.
