The Craziest Prenup Clauses

These are some of the wildest prenup clauses:

•$10,000 if your spouse cancels date night
• $5,000/year “enrichment fund” for the family French Bulldog
• $2,500/month in dog support after divorce
• $15,000 if your in-laws overstay their welcome
• Financial penalties for gaining weight
• Requirements to lose pregnancy weight within a certain timeframe
• Rules for who gets frozen embryos after a divorce
• Limits on how often in-laws can visit

Here’s the funny part…

Many of these clauses aren’t actually enforceable.

Family court judges generally have broad discretion and often disregard lifestyle or behavioral provisions, particularly in no-fault divorce states. Attorneys still include them because they can become useful bargaining chips if the couple negotiates a settlement outside of court.

It’s a good reminder that just because you can put something in a contract doesn’t mean a judge will enforce it.

What’s the craziest prenup clause you’ve ever heard of?
