QFS Turns Two Today

Today marks the 2-year anniversary of QFS

A few things I’m especially grateful for over the past two years:

• The families who have trusted us with their finances.
• The investment managers and partners we work alongside.
• Our incredible team, who have taken our client experience to a level I never could have achieved on my own.

Most of all, I’m grateful to my parents.

They believed in me from day one and encouraged me every step of the way. Starting a business is exciting, but it’s also overwhelming and, at times, terrifying. They’ve been there from the very beginning and have supported me through every stage of the journey.

In just two years, we’ve:

• Helped families diversify tens of millions of dollars in concentrated stock tax-efficiently.

• Reduced taxes on earned income, investment income, and Roth conversions.

• Helped clients acquire real estate using box spread financing at rates around 4% instead of traditional mortgages at 6–7%.

• Built tax-aware portfolios using long/short strategies, hedge funds, private equity, real estate, box spreads, Section 351 exchanges, and more.

• Produced content that’s helping more investors/advisors understand tax-aware investing.

One thing that’s become very clear is that the larger the portfolio and the more complex the tax situation, the more valuable this kind of work becomes.

Because of that, going forward QFS will focus our new-client work on families with $10M+ of investable assets.

We’ll continue serving the families who partnered with us earlier in our journey. I’ll always be grateful that they trusted a young firm before we had the track record we do today.

Even after two years, I still wake up excited to:

• Read tax code and white papers.
• Learn something new.
• Get a little better at this craft every day.

I hope to be doing this for the next 50 years.

To everyone who has trusted me and QFS during these first two years—thank you. You’ve given me the opportunity to build something that I genuinely love, and I don’t take that trust for granted.

Here’s to the next chapter.
